We Were Part Of ‘My Fearless Next’!
I don’t know about you, but I’m the person who enters a million competitions and raffles and NEVER wins! So when I entered this competition when encouraged by a dear friend, I quickly forgot about it.
Less than a month later, I’m on the phone with a friendly gent telling me I’ve made it into the first top 6 for Standards Bank’s My Fearless Next and that I should get ready for the pitch of a lifetime. Still in shock I agree to be wherever they need me on the 30th of June.
Fast-forward to the 29th of June, I am in a great conversation with my competitors; Vije, Matsobane, Nonhlanhla, Stanley and Lesego in between shooting our ‘About Me’ videos.
The following day was quite an exciting one, it started off with some sessions about defining our customers, researching feasibility of potential products and projections, followed by testing our selling skills in the streets of Maboneng and lastly our pitches.
Although nerve-wracking and exhilarating, my pitch was short and sweet and far less daunting than those on Dragon's Den. I got some thought-provoking questions about my brand and received some amazing advice, which is in the process of being actioned.
And even though I did not make it to the final round, I am very proud of Nonhlanhla, the smart lady who made it. Her business is one that speaks to little girls and allows them to see themselves being represented, encourages them to see themselves as beautiful and teaches them to appreciate their beautiful brown skin.
